Ravens vs. Broncos Playoff Odds
DENVER, CO (The Spread) – The NFL Divisional Round Playoffs start today with a regular season rematch between the Denver Broncos and Baltimore Ravens at 4:30PM ET.
BALTIMORE: After a nearly month-long slumber, the Ravens’ offense woke up in the wild card round last week. Receiver Anquan Boldin put the team on his back, catching five passes for 145 yards and a touchdown in Baltimore’s 24-9 victory over the Colts. Quarterback Joe Flacco also completed 12-of-23 passes for 282 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions, while backup running back Bernard Pierce rushed 13 times for 103 yards. (Ray Rice added 70 yards on 15 carries but also uncharacteristically fumbled twice in the victory.) The Ravens were inspired by the return of Ray Lewis, who has been the team’s defensive leader for over two decades. But if the Ravens are to advance to the AFC title game for the second straight year, they’ll need to beat a Denver team that beat them 34-17 on December 16. Baltimroe finished 10-6 during the regular season and was just 6-9-1 against the spread.
DENVER: The Broncos earned a first-round bye after accumulating a 13-3 record in the regular season. They’re currently in the midst of an 11-game winning streak and are coming off a 38-3 victory over the Chiefs in Week 17. Peyton Manning put together an MVP-caliber season, posting a 105.8 Quarterback Rating after throwing for 4,659 yards and 37 touchdowns. Demaryius Thomas was his favorite target throughout the season, as the receiver caught 94 passes for 1,434 yards and 10 touchdowns. Eric Decker added 85 catches for 1,065 yards and 13 scores while Knowshon Moreno rushed 138 times for 525 yards and four touchdowns after Willis McGahee went down with an injury during the season. Denver finished with a 10-6 record against the spread this season and covered in four straight games to finish the season.
ODDS: According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Broncos opened as 9.5-point favorites versus the Ravens while the over/under total is currently sitting at 44.5 points. Baltimore finished the regular season with an 11-6 overall record and were 4-4 on the road, while Denver was 13-3 at 7-1 at home.
TRENDS: The favorite is 4-0 against the spread in the last four meetings between these two teams while the Ravens were 7-2-1 against the number in their last 10 games versus the Broncos. The home team is also 5-2 against the spread in the last seven games between these two teams.
