Cardinals vs. Redskins Pick
Can the Arizona Cardinals keep their hopes for a winning season alive today when they go on the road to face the Washington Redskins at 1PM ET?
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Washington is favored at home, as the Redskins are getting odds of -4 points against Arizona. The over/under total for the contest has been set at 41 points. The home team has won five straight meetings in this series but the Cardinals have covered the spread in the last three meetings. The public betting in this game has 52 percent of the wagers going on Washington at home. Today’s game takes place from FedEx Field in Landover, Maryland and will air live on FOX.
Washington is coming off a 30-13 loss at the L.A. Chargers last week for its fourth loss in five games. The Redskins are now just 5-8 on the season and 5-8 against the spread. Washington has scored only 27 points over its last two games and now averages 21.9 points per game on offense while putting up 362.2 yards per contest. Kirk Cousins has thrown for 3,440 yards and 22 touchdowns with nine interceptions. He has been sacked 37 times. Samaje Perine is the leading rusher with 510 yards and a TD while Jamison Crowder is the leading receiver with 54 catches for 662 yards. Defensively, Washington is allowing 26.5 points and 366.5 yards per game. Ryan Kerrigan is leading the unit with 38 tackles and nine sacks.
Arizona is coming off a 12-7 win at home over the Titans last week to improve to 6-7 on the season. The Cardinals are just 4-8-1 against the spread this season, but they have covered in two of their last three games. The Cards have scored just 28 points in their last two games combined and now average just 17.8 points per game and 343.8 yards per game. Adrian Peterson has been sidelined by a neck injury and a timetable for his return is uncertain. He is the leading rusher with 448 yards in limited time. Blaine Gabbert has thrown for 897 yards and six touchdowns in his limited action as well, but has been sacked 18 times. Larry Fitzgerald is leading the offense with 87 catches for 922 yards and five touchdowns. Defensively, Arizona is holding opponents to just 24.4 points and 336.5 yards per game. Chandler Jones leads the unit with 49 tackles and 14 sacks.
Neither team inspires much hope for a cover, as both are very inconsistent. The Redskins can get hot at offense sometimes, but their defense is usually suspect. Arizona’s defense can play well at times and look awful others. My big concern for the Cardinals is all the missing pieces. They don’t have any playmakers on offense outside of Fitzgerald, but he has a suspect quarterback throwing to him. Washington at least has their skill position players available. If they can block the Cardinals, they should be able to cover.
