NFL Predictions: How many games will Bengals win in 2017? 8/16/17

Bengals Season Win Prediction

Will the Cincinnati Bengals surprise in 2017 and go over their season win total projection?

According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Bengals’ over/under projection for wins in 2017 has been set at 8.5. They’re also a long shot to win the Super Bowl at 60/1, are 28/1 to win the AFC Conference Championship, and are 17/4 to win the AFC North Division this upcoming NFL season.

The team made a slew of moves in free agency, re-signing receiver Brandon LaFell, cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick and offensive tackle Eric Winston. They also signed offensive lineman Andre Smith and linebacker Kevin Minter, and also released linebacker Rey Maualuga.

In the draft, the Bengals focused on giving quarterback Andy Dalton more weapons on offense. They took Washington speedster John Ross with the ninth overall selection and took troubled Oklahoma running back Joe Mixon in the second. The team went back-to-back linebackers in the third and fourth round respectively, with the selections of Kansas State’s Jordan Willis and Auburn’s Carl Lewis. Tennessee receiver Josh Malone and Michigan defensive tackle Ryan Glasgow were also selected in the fourth.

Our Prediction: After losing Marvin Jones and Mohamed Sanu in free agency, the Bengals watched as A.J. Green, Tyler Eifert and Giovani Bernard combined to miss 20 games in 2016. With all three of those weapons back in Dalton’s aresnal, plus the additions of Ross and Mixon, I think the Bengals are flying under the radar a bit in 2017. Granted, their offensive line needs to show marked improvement and their defense has to figure out how to drum up a pass rush, but a nine-win season isn’t out of the realm of possibility.
