Chiefs Season Win Prediction
Will the Kansas City Chiefs suffer a regression in 2017 or is this still a playoff contender heading into the new NFL season?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Chiefs have an over/under of 9 for the number of wins in 2017. The team is also a 32/1 long-shot to win the Super Bowl and has odds of 14/1 to win the AFC Conference Championship. They’re also 13/5 to win the AFC West Division this upcoming season.

The Chiefs showed some dysfunction this offseason in firing GM John Dorsey, who mishandled the release of receiver Jeremy Maclin. Meanwhile, the team signed former Eagles defensive tackle Bennie Logan to a one-year deal and former Jaguar defensive lineman Roy Miller to a one-year deal. C.J. Spiller was also added, as was defensive tackle Cam Thomas. The Chiefs lost Dontari Poe to the Falcons.
Meanwhile, Kansas City traded up in April’s draft to land its future quarterback in Texas Tech’s Patrick Mahomes. The Chiefs came back in the second round and took Villanova defensive end Tanoh Kpassanon and in the third they took Toledo running back Kareem Hunt.

OUR PREDICTION: The Chiefs have one of the toughest schedules in the NFL and probably overachieved to a great degree in 2016. Alex Smith returns as the starter, but his conservative nature could lead to Mahomes starting before he’s ready. There’s no doubt that this team is talented, but there’s something amiss in Kansas City. I’m going to roll the dice that they take a step back in 2017. Vegas may have nailed the number of 9, but I’m going with the under.
