NFL Predictions: Patrick Mahomes to led Chiefs to win vs. Broncos? 12/31/17

NFL Week 15 Predictions: Chargers vs. Chiefs to be Low-Scoring? 12/14/17 NFL Week 15 Predictions: Chargers vs. Chiefs to be Low-Scoring? 12/14/17

Chiefs vs. Broncos Prediction

Will rookie Patrick Mahomes led the Chiefs to victory on Sunday in Denver when Kansas City visits their division rivals the Broncos at 4:25 p.m. ET?

Who Oddsmakers Like: Denver. According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Broncos are 4.5-point home favorites versus the Chiefs, who opened as 1.5-point road underdogs before the line jumped. The total, meanwhile, sits at 39 points after hitting the board at 37.5.

Who the Public Likes: As of Sunday morning, 64% of the betting tickets are on the Chiefs to cover the spread while 69% of the money is also on Kansas City.

Who the Trends Like: The Chiefs are 4-0 against the spread in their last four meetings with the Broncos. The road team is also 6-2 against the number in the last eight meetings between these two teams while the underdog has cashed in five of the last seven meetings.

Who We Like: Kansas City. The Chiefs are resting starters but it’s not as if the starters for Denver have been great this season. The Broncos have nothing to play for and are looking to run out the final 60 minutes so they can get to their offseason. Thus, I don’t think an unmotivated Kansas City team is a bad bet. Plus, I’d rather take Mahomes over Paxton Lynch, who is scheduled to start today for the Broncos. Mahomes is raw but he has talent. Lynch is a turnover machine that has taken zero steps in his development. Mahomes actually has a solid coaching staff at his disposal too, so I’ll roll the dice on Kansas City’s backups against an uninspired Denver team that is looking to run out the clock.
