Buccaneers vs. Packers Pick
Can the Green Bay Packers pick up a needed win at home when they take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers today at 1PM ET?
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Green Bay is favored at home today, as the Packers are getting odds of -2.5 points against the Buccaneers. The over/under total for the game is listed at 45 points. Green Bay has won two straight meetings with the Buccaneers but Tampa is 3-1 against the spread in the last four in this series. The public betting in this game has 82 percent going on the Packers at home. Today’s game takes place from Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin and will air live on FOX.
Green Bay is coming off a 31-28 loss at Pittsburgh last week to fall to 5-6 on the season. They have lost five of their last six games. The Packers are 5-6 against the spread, covering in two of their last three games. Green Bay is putting up 21.1 points and 334 yards per game on offense this season. Brett Hundley has been showing improvement in recent weeks and now has 1,185 passing yards with five touchdowns, but also has seven interceptions. He has developed a connection with Davante Adams, who has 55 catches for 702 yards and seven touchdowns this season. Green Bay has been without Aaron Jones and Ty Montgomery in the backfield due to injuries so Jamaal Williams has taken over. He has 224 yards on 70 carries with two touchdowns. Defensively, Green Bay is giving up 23.7 points and 366.5 yards per game.
Tampa Bay is coming off a 34-20 loss at Atlanta last week to fall to 4-7 on the season. The Bucs are 3-7-1 against the spread this season but have covered in two of their last three games. Tampa is putting up just 20.3 points and 355.9 yards per game this season Jameis Winston has missed recent contests with a shoulder injury, but he is expected to return this weekend. Winston has 1,920 passing yards with 10 touchdowns and six interceptions. Doug Martin suffered a concussion that has him doubtful to play today. Jacquizz Rodgers has run for 217 yards this year in his place. Mike Evans has caught 51 passes for 702 yards and four touchdowns this season. Defensively, Tampa is giving up 23.8 points and 404 yards per game, including 293 passing yards per contest.
Green Bay has been able to move the ball on average defenses, so I expect the Packers to have success against this poor Tampa defense. The Packers aren’t a great defense themselves, but Tampa hasn’t been able to play well on the road. They lost by 14 at Atlanta and by 20 in New Orleans in their recent road trips. I just don’t trust the Bucs to win on the road.
