NFL Predictions: Will Redskins win at least 8 games in 2017? 8/18/17

Redskins Season Win Prediction

Will the Washington Redskins win at least eight games in 2017 or will they take a step backwards this upcoming season?

According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Redskins’ over/under is set at 7.5 for number of wins in 2017. The team is also a 70/1 long shot to win the Super Bowl, are 30/1 to win the NFC Conference Championship, and are 6/1 to win the NFC East Division.

After the defense underachieved to some degree a year ago, the Redskins signed former Raiders defensive tackle Stacy McGee to a five-year, $25 million contract and former Cowboys defensive end Terrell McClain to a four-year, $21 million deal. The team also signed safety D.J. Swearinger and took a one-year flier on former Cleveland wideout Terrelle Pryor.

With the 17th overall pick in April’s NFL draft, the Redskins selected Alabama defensive end Jonathan Allen. They took Allen’s teammate Ryan Anderson in the second round and stayed with defense in the third when they selected UCLA’s Fabian Moreau. In the fourth, the Redskins took Oklahoma running back Samaje Perine and Michigan State safety Montae Nicholson.

OUR PREDICTION: The Redskins have a difficult schedule but I don’t see them taking a step backwards in 2017. I actually think their defense will improve slightly and the team has won at least eight games under Jay Gruden the last two years. Cousins has plenty to prove and he has a good supporting cast thanks to Pryor, Josh Doctson, Jamison Crowder and Jordan Reed. I think Washington lands in the 7-9 win range and with the total sitting at 7.5, I’ll grab the over.
