Giants vs. Jets Preseason Pick

Will tonight’s Giants and Jets matchup at 7:30PM ET be low-scoring for bettors?

According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Jets are now 2.5-point home underdogs to cover against the Giants while tonight’s over/under currently sits at 43 points. The Jets had opened as a 1-point underdog before the line was bet up, while the total opened at 42.5 before jumping to 43.

The Giants are now 0-2 in preseason play after losing 27-10 to the Dolphins two weeks ago as a 2.5-point home favorite and getting shutout 21-0 by the Bills in Buffalo as a 3-point underdog last week. Eli Manning was just 4-of-9 passing for 44 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions last week in New York’s loss to the Bills. Backup Ryan Nassib was also just 2-of-12 for 25 yards.

As for the Jets, they split their first two preseason games, beating the Jaguars 17-13 as a 3-point home favorite in their first exhibition contest and losing 22-18 to the Redskins in D.C. last week. In the loss to Washington, starter Ryan Fitzpatrick was just 4-of-9 passing for 35 yards with no touchdowns or picks, while Bilal Powell rushed three times for 23 yards.

OUR PICK: With how off the two starting quarterbacks have looked in recent weeks, the under appears to be a safe bet tonight. The Giants improved their defense this offseason with the additions of Olivier Vernon (who had a sack last week) and Janoris Jenkins (three tackles), while the Jets will once again have a strong defense under head coach Todd Bowles. With the total sitting at 43 points, look for tonight’s game to be a defensive struggle throughout.
