Falcons vs. Dolphins Prediction
The preseason opens tonight for the Super Bowl LI runner-up Falcons as they travel south to take on the Dolphins. Will Atlanta cover?
Oddsmakers at sports book Bovada.lv have listed Atlanta as a 1.5-point favorite, while the over-under sits at 36. The Dolphins opened as a 2-point favorite and the over-under was at 39 before movement shifted toward the Falcons this week.
Bet the Falcons at Dolphins Game
ATLANTA FALCONS: This is the first game the Falcons will play since their heartbreaking collapse versus the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl this past February. All the pieces are in play for Atlanta to continue being one of the top teams in the NFL, including running back Devonta Freeman who agreed to a five-year contract extension this week. Quarterback Matt Ryan will not have a couple of his top receivers in this game as Julio Jones and Justin Gabriel have been ruled out.

MIAMI DOLPHINS: It has been a rough week for the Dolphins, who lost starting quarterback Ryan Tannehill indefinitely with a knee injury. Miami acted quickly, signing former Bears quarterback Jay Cutler to a one-year contract. Cutler had previously announced his retirement, but the allure of a starting job has kept his career alive for at least one more year. But Cutler will be inactive for the preseason opener, leaving QB duties to the likes of Matt Moore and Brandon Doughty. Moore is a veteran with plenty of starts under his belt, including last year’s 30-12 playoff loss at Pittsburgh.
Our Prediction: Don’t expect starters on either team to play much. The Falcons have a deeper roster and despite being on the road, should have enough to cover the spread.
THURSDAY NFL PREDICTION: ATLANTA FALCONS -1.5
