Raiders Season Predictions
Will the Oakland Raiders fall short of 10 wins in 2017 or will they cash in on their Super Bowl hype?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Raiders’ over/under for wins in 2017 has been set at 9.5. They’re also 16/1 to win the Super Bowl and are 7/1 to win the AFC Conference Championship. Finally, the Raiders have odds of 7/4 to win the AFC West, which are the best odds to win that division.

The Raiders took two-year fliers on a couple of players this offseason, including tight end Jared Cook, receiver Cordarrelle Patterson, and right tackle Marshall Newhouse. The team also inked linebacker Jelani Jenkins and quarterback E.J. Manuel for depth. Finally, the Raiders traded for former Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch to help boost the running game.
In the draft, the Raiders selected Ohio State cornerback Gareon Conley in the first round and Connecticut safety Obi Melifonwu in the second. In the third, the team nabbed UCLA defensive tackle Eddie Vanderdoes and in the fourth, the Raiders took Florida tackle David Sharpe.

OUR PREDICTION: I don’t think the Raiders are a 12 or 11-win team like many believe. I also think they’re too talented to win 9 games or fall to 8-8 after overachieving a year ago. The secondary is an issue, the run defense wasn’t great a year ago, and the team could use another pass-rusher outside of Khalil Mack. That said, Derek Carr and the offense should win plenty of games again in 2017. The offensive line is one of the best in football, the addition of Lynch should improve the offensive line (assuming at 32 years old he’s still fresh and not rusty), and the receivers are excellent in Amari Cooper and Michael Crabtree. I like Oakland to win 10 games.
