NFL Total Predictions: Will the Jets and Bucs go under? 11/10/17

Jets vs. Buccaneers Total Pick

With the Tampa Bay Buccaneers without some top players, will their game on Sunday at 1PM ET with the New York Jets be low scoring?

According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, New York is favored on the road, as the Jets are getting odds of -2.5 points against the Bucs. The over/under total for the contest has been set at 43.5 points. New York has won eight straight meetings with the Bucs and the two have hit the under in six of their last seven encounters. The public betting in this one has the Jets getting 79 percent of the wagers on the road. Sunday’s game takes place at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida and will air live on CBS.

The Jets are coming off a nice 34-21 win over the Bills last week to snap a three-game losing streak. New York is now 4-5 on the season and 5-4 with the over. The Jets have hit the over in their last three games. New York is allowing 23 points and 367.3 yards per game on defense this season. Demario Davis is leading the unit with 75 tackles and 3.5 sacks. Offensively, New York is averaging 21.2 points and 330.1 yards per game. Josh McCown has thrown for 1,980 yards and 13 touchdowns this year, but has seven interceptions and has been sacked 26 times. Bilal Powell is the leading rusher with 390 yards while Robby Anderson has 31 receptions for 483 yards and four touchdowns.

Tampa is a mess right now, losing five straight games. The Bucs are coming off a 30-10 loss at New Orleans to fall to 2-6 on the season. Tampa is 4-4 with the over/under total this season and 3-1 with the under at home. The Bucs are averaging just 19.8 points and 366.6 yards per game this season and the offense will be very short-handed on Sunday. Jameis Winston is out indefinitely due to a shoulder injury while receiver Mike Evans is suspended for this game due to a blindside hit. Winston has thrown for 1,920 yards and 10 touchdowns while Evans has 40 catches for 532 yards and four scores. Ryan Fitzpatrick gets the start at QB. He has thrown for 358 yards and four touchdowns this year with 2 INT. Defensively, Tampa is giving up 24.8 points and 395.3 yards per game, including 278.6 passing yards per game.

Bet on Jets vs. Buccaneers

The under has been the trend between these two and I think it hits again on Sunday. Tampa has hit the under in 6 of its last 7 home games while the Jets are 4-1 with the under in their last five against losing teams. Given the injuries/suspensions to the Bucs coming into this game, I see them struggling to move the ball to against this Jets defense. New York could also face some resistance on the road.
