NFL Week 1 Betting Odds Report
Here’s a snapshot of the Week 1 action in the NFL, which begins Thursday night in Denver where the Broncos will host the Panthers.
Which team is the largest favorite in Week 1?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, that would be the Seahawks. Seattle is a 10.5-point home favorite versus the Miami Dolphins. Heading into the season the Seahawks have some uncertainty at running back, although Pete Carroll insists that Thomas Rawls will be ready to play. That said, Russell Wilson, Doug Baldwin, Richard Sherman, Bobby Wagner, Michael Bennett and Earl Thomas all return to a Seattle team that remains loaded with talent.
What is the smallest point spread in Week 1?
While there are a handful of small spreads this weekend, the Giants and Cowboys are currently listed as a pick’em in Dallas. The Cowboys opened as a 3.5-point favorite against their NFC East Division rivals but after Tony Romo broke a bone in his back during a preseason game versus the Seahawks, the line was bet all the way down to a pick’em. Preseason headliner Dak Prescott will start for the Cowboys, who are once again loaded on offense thanks to the best O-line in football, as well as Dez Bryant, Jason Witten and rookie running back Ezekiel Elliott.
What is the largest total in Week 1?
There are two games in the 50-point range when it comes to the over/under. The first is Oakland and New Orleans, which is sitting at 51. The second, which is the largest total posted in Week 1, is Detroit and Indianapolis at o/u 51.5. With Drew Brees, Andrew Luck, Derek Carr and Matthew Stafford under center for these four respective teams, it’s easy to see why oddsmakers would post the totals for those two matchups in the 50s.

What is the smallest total for Week 1?
The Bengals-Jets matchup in East Rutherford and the Browns-Eagles tilt in Philadelphia both have totals of 41.5, respectively. But those matchups don’t offer the smallest total on the board. The smallest over/under currently available for Week 1 is in Nashville, where the Vikings and Titans o/u is sitting at 41, down from the opening number of 42. Even though Minnesota just acquired Sam Bradford in a trade with Philadelphia, Shaun Hill is still slated to start for the Vikings in Tennessee this Sunday.
What game has seen the biggest line movement?
That would be the Sunday night tilt in Arizona. The game opened as a pick’em between the Patriots and Cardinals but the line has been bet all the way up to Arizona -6. The reason is obvious: Oddsmakers posted the game as a pick’em before Tom Brady’s four-game suspension was once again upheld. Jimmy Garoppolo will start for New England, hence the line movement.
