ARIZONA: Following their 31-17 loss to the Packers in Week 9, the Cardinals have now failed to cover the spread in six straight games. (They did push as a 7-point underdog at Minnesota on October 21, however.) The team’s 4-0 start to the season is nothing but a distant memory as the Cards have now lost five straight games. With Kevin Kolb still banged up, John Skelton is expected to draw another start under center this weekend. Arizona is 4-5 overall and 3-5-1 against the spread, while the under has hit in seven of the team’s first nine games.
ATLANTA: The Falcons’ unbeaten streak finally came to an end last Sunday when they fell 31-27 to the Saints as a 1-point road favorite. It was the first time Atlanta failed to cover the spread in the past three weeks as Matt Ryan failed to connect with Roddy White on a 4th-and-1 from the goal line with under two minutes remaining in the game. The Falcons are now 8-1 overall and a solid 6-3 against the spread, although Sunday will mark the first time this season that they’re a double-digit favorite. The largest they’ve been favored was in Week 6 when they were a 9.5-point home favorite versus the Raiders. Oakland easily covered the spread in that game, falling 23-20 on a last-second field goal by Matt Bryant.
ODDS: Oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv have installed the Falcons as 10-point favorites versus the Cardinals, while the over/under total is currently sitting at 45 points. Arizona is 4-5 overall and 1-3 on the road, while Atlanta is 8-1 overall and 4-0 at home.
TRENDS: The over is 4-0 in the last four meetings between these two teams, while the favorite is 5-2 against the spread in the last seven meetings between these two teams. The Cardinals are also 2-5 against the spread in their last seven games versus the Falcons.
