SAN DIEGO: The Chargers have only won four games this season and two of those wins have come against a 1-8 Kansas City team. With their 34-24 loss to the Buccaneers last Sunday in Tampa Bay, the Bolts have now lost four of their last five games and have failed to cover the spread in four of their last five games as well. Quarterback Philip Rivers has thrown for 2,203 yards this season but continues to turn the ball over at a rapid pace. In fact, his 40 turnovers since 2011 lead all quarterbacks in that category. At 4-5 the Chargers are still in second place in the AFC West but the Broncos are running away with the division at 6-3.
DENVER: With their 36-14 win over the Panthers in Week 10, the Broncos have now won four straight and five of their last six. They’re also 5-1 against the spread over that span, and have covered the number in four straight games. Led by Peyton Manning, a rushing attack that features Willis McGahee, a passing game that has playmakers Demaryius Thomas and Eric Decker, as well as a stout defense, the Broncos are now in full control of the AFC West at 6-3. They’ve also covered the spread in six of their fisrt nine games, while the over is 6-3 this season as well. The Broncos should only continue to roll as Manning is having a career year.
ODDS: Oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv have installed the Broncos as an 8.5-point favorite over the Chargers, while the over/under total is currently sitting at 48.5 points. San Diego is 4-5 overall and 2-3 on the road, while Denver is 6-3 overall and 3-1 at home.
TRENDS: The Chargers are 4-0-4 against the spread in their last eight games in Denver and 8-3-2 ATS in their last 13 games versus the Broncos overall. The over is 5-1 in the last six meetings in Denver and 9-4 in the last 13 meetings overall, while the favorite is 7-3-2 ATS in the last 12 meetings overall and the road team is 3-0-1 ATS in the last four meetings.
