Steelers vs. Browns Week 12 Odds
CLEVELAND, OH (The Spread) – AFC North rivals clash in Cleveland this weekend when the Browns host the Steelers at 1:00PM ET.
PITTSBURGH: The Ravens handed the Steelers their fourth loss of the season last Sunday night in Pittsburgh. It was the first time the Steelers lost since October 11th, when the Titans upset them 26-23 in Tennessee. The loss to Baltimore dropped Pittsburgh’s record to 6-4 overall and 4-5-1 against the spread as the two sides pushed on a 3-point line. The Steelers have major issues at the quarterback position, as Ben Roethlisberger is out with a ribs injury and now backup Byron Leftwich is out with a similar injury. That leaves third-stringer Charlie Batch to start this Sunday versus Cleveland, which certainly limits what the Steelers can do offensively.
CLEVELAND: The Browns nearly pulled off an upset last Sunday in Dallas before falling to the Cowboys 23-20 in overtime. It was their second straight loss and their third in four games, although the Browns did cover as a 7-point underdog. They’re now 2-8 on the year and 5-4-1 against the spread and if you like trends, Cleveland has covered the digit every other week since September 23rd. If the trend holds up, they’ll fail to cover the number this Sunday but will cover in Oakland next weekend. Rookies Trent Richardson (670 rushing yards, 6 TDs), Brandon Weeden (2,298 passing yards) and Josh Gordon (470 receiving yards) lead the team in their respective statistically categories.
ODDS: According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Steelers are 1-point favorites over the Browns, while the over/under total is currently sitting at 34 points. Pittsburgh is 6-4 overall and 2-3 on the road, while Cleveland is 2-8 overall and 2-3 at home.
TRENDS: The Steelers are 10-1 against the spread in their last 11 games following a straight up loss and are 3-1- against the number in their last five games overall. The Browns, meanwhile, are 5-1-1 against the spread in their last seven divisional games and 5-1 ATS in their last five games versus a team with a winning record.
