Rams vs. Patriots Prediction

Will Sunday’s Rams and Patriots game turn into a bloodbath today at 1:00PM ET or will L.A. keep things close?

According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Patriots are 13.5-point home favorites over the Rams after opening as a 13-point favorite. As for the total, the number hit the board at 46 but has been bet down to 44 at the majority of online and Vegas sports books.

RAMS KEY TRENDS: The Rams are just 1-5-1 against the spread in their last seven games overall and are 2-5 against the number in their last seven games versus an opponent that has a winning record. They’re also 27-56-1 at the betting window in their last 84 road games versus a team that owns a winning home record and are 20-43 against the number in their last 63 games after accumulating less than 250 total yards in their previous game.

PATRIOTS KEY TRENDS: The Patriots have covered the spread in all four of their last four games coming off an ATS loss and are 12-3-2 against the number in their last 17 games after allowing more than 250 yards passing in their previous game. They’ve also gone 8-3-2 at the betting window in their last 13 home games and have covered in eight of their last 11 games overall.

OUR PREDICTION: The Patriots lost Rob Gronkowski for the year due to the tight end needing back surgery and his absence will certainly impact the AFC title race this season. That said, Gronk or no Gronk, things are going to get out of hand today in Foxboro. Bill Belichick seemingly has an axe to grind with Jeff Fisher based on the last two meetings between the head coaches’ teams. In 2009 when the Titans visited the Patriots, New England won 59-0 and was still attempting passes in the fourth quarter. In 2012 when the Patriots and Rams met in London, New England rolled to a 45-7 victory. Granted, this is not the best defense that Belichick has had in New England and Jared Goff played well for a half last Sunday in New Orleans, so covering the 13.5 won’t necessarily be easy. But I expect the Pats to keep trying to score late, which will certainly help New England backers cash.

NFL WEEK 13 PREDICTION: NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS -13.5
