Which struggling football team will come away with a win when the Chicago Bears host the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday at 1PM ET?
According to the oddsmakers at BetDSI, the Bears are favored at home, as they are getting odds of -1.5 points against the 49ers. The over/under total for the game has been set at 43.5 points. San Francisco has won and covered the spread in three of its last four meetings with the Bears.
Chicago has dropped three straight to fall to 2-9 on the season. The Bears have covered in three of their last four games and are now 4-7 against the spread. Chicago is struggling in regards to scoring, posting just 16.2 points per game this season. Defensively, they allow 24 points per game despite the fact they are allowing just 357.4 yards per game. The offense is putting up 362.2 yards per game, as the unit is riddled with injuries and missing stars. Jay Cutler is out with a shoulder injury while Alshon Jeffery is suspended. Matt Barkley is taking over under center. He has thrown for 397 yards and three touchdowns this season to go with four interceptions. Jordan Howard has been a bright spot for Chicago as the running back has run for 766 yards and two scores since getting into the mix in the backfield.
Since winning the season opener, San Francisco has lost 10 straight to fall to 1-10 on the season. They are also just 3-8 against the spread this season, but the 49ers have covered in two of their last three games. San Francisco has one of the worst defenses in the NFL, allowing 31.3 points and 432.9 yards per game. They really struggle against the run, allowing 171.8 yards per game. Offensively, San Francisco isn’t much better, posting just 20.7 points and 338.3 yards per game. Colin Kaepernick has thrown for 1,440 yards and 10 touchdowns since taking over as starting QB. He also has run for 373 yards and a score. Carlos Hyde is the leading rusher with 594 yards and six touchdowns.

This is a hard one to decide, as both teams are really a mess. Chicago is banged up, but at home. The 49ers just can’t seem to stop anyone and I think Howard is set for a big game against this San Francisco run defense. The 49ers should have some success as well, but the Chicago defense can make stops more consistently than San Francisco.
