Texans vs. Titans Prediction
Will the Houston Texans cover the spread as a road underdog when they visit their AFC South rivals the Tennessee Titans at 1:00 p.m. ET on Sunday?
Who Oddsmakers Like: Tennessee. According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Titans are 7-point home favorites to beat the Texans, who also opened as 7-point road underdogs. The total, meanwhile, sits at 43 points after hitting the board at 42.5.
Who the Public Likes: Tennessee. As of Sunday morning, just under 60% of tickets are on the Titans to cover the point spread.
Who the Trends Like: Houston and the over. The Texans have covered the number in seven of the last eight meetings between these two teams and are 5-1 against the spread in their last six trips to Nashville. In the last 11 meetings between these two teams in Tennessee, the over is 8-3 and is 10-4 in the last 14 meetings overall.
Who We Like: Houston. I don’t trust Tom Savage, although I did predict the Texans would cover against the Ravens on Monday night and despite Savage’s best efforts to ruin the night, they did. Anyway, I trust the Titans to cover a big number even less than I like backing Savage. Tennessee has won five of its last six games but four of the wins were by 3, 3, 4 and 4 points. Marcus Mariota hasn’t been good this season and the Titans have a habit of leaving opponents in games (even the winless Browns).
Tennessee escaped Indianapolis last Sunday with a 4-point win thanks to a key Colts fumble and a pair of touchdowns to close out the scoring. The Texans have covered the spread in three of their last four games as an away underdog and should put up a fight today, just as they did on Monday night in Baltimore.
