NFL Week 14 Picks: Will the Redskins hit another over vs. the Eagles?

Redskins vs. Eagles Pick

Can the Washington Redskins find themselves in another high-scoring battle when they face the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday at 1PM ET?

According to the oddsmakers at BetDSI, the Redskins are favored on the road, as they are getting odds of -2 points against the Eagles. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 46.5 points. Washington has won four straight meetings with Philly, including a 27-20 win at home on Oct. 16. These two have hit the over in four of their last five meetings.

Bet on Redskins vs. Eagles

Washington has lost two straight coming into this game to drop to 6-5-1 on the year and fall out of the NFC East chase, but the Skins are still very much in the playoff hunt. High-scoring games have typically been their thing, as they have hit the over in 10 of 12 games, including five straight. Washington has a very high-octane offense that is averaging 25.3 points and 429.7 yards per game. They have one of the top passing attacks in the NFL at 320.2 yards per game. Kirk Cousins is on a contract year and playing like it, as he has thrown for 3,811 yards and 21 touchdowns this season. Cousins may get stud tight end Jordan Reed back on Sunday. He’s been dealing with a shoulder separation that kept him out of last week’s game. Reed has 59 catches for 630 yards and five scores this year. Defensively, Washington has struggled in 2016, allowing 24.6 points and 386.5 yards per game. They still have 30 sacks as a team, led by 10 from Ryan Kerrigan.

The Eagles are a real mess right now. They have dropped three straight and five of their last six to fall to 5-7 on the season. Their last three losses have all been by double digits. When it comes to the total, Philly is 6-6 on the season with the over and under. Philadelphia has given up just 20.4 points and 358.6 yards per game on defense. Philly has 26 sacks and forced 18 turnovers this year as a unit. Offensively, Philly is putting up just 22.3 points and 351.5 yards per game. The Eagles started the year well but Carson Wentz has struggled as the season has went along. Wentz has thrown for 2,901 yards with 12 touchdowns and 11 interceptions this season. His leading receiver, Jordan Matthews, sat out last game with an ankle injury, but is expected to return on Sunday. While the Eagles average over 100 rushing yards per game on the season, they are struggling to find any consistency in the backfield. Ryan Mathews is the leading rusher with 427 yards and seven scores, but he has missed the last two games with a MCL sprain. He is expected to play this weekend.

While the Philly defense seems great, they have struggles in recent weeks. The Eagles have given up at least 26 points in five of their last six games. Washington has been a team that has scored at least 23 points in five straight while giving up at least 20 in seven straight. I think this one will be another shootout. With Reed back in the mix for Washington, their offense has too many weapons for Philly to cover. The Eagles should also get some big plays on this Washington defense to keep the scoring high.
