Raiders vs. Panthers Week 16 Odds
CHARLOTTE, NC (The Spread) – Two teams that had their playoff hopes dashed long ago will battle on Sunday when the Panthers host the Raiders at 1:00PM ET.
OAKLAND: The Raiders finally snapped a six-game losing streak with a 15-0 victory over the Chiefs in Week 15. The only scoring in the game came from five Sebastian Janikowski field goals, including attempts of 50 and 57 yards out. Carson Palmer completed 18-of-29 passes for 182 yards while Darren McFadden rushed 30 times for 110 yards and Rod Streater caught five passes for 62 yards. The win improved Oakland’s record to 4-10 overall and 4-10 against the spread. With their playoff hopes dashed, the Raiders are just trying to play out the last two weeks and evaluate the current talent on their roster.
CAROLINA: The Panthers won their second game in a row with a 31-7 victory over the Chargers in Week 15. It was Carolina’s third victory in its last two games as Cam Newton completed 19-of-33 passes for 231 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions. DeAngelo Williams also rushed for 93 yards on 22 carries while catching two passes for 51 yards and a touchdown, and Steve Smith caught six passes for 57 yards with one score. The win improved Carolina’s record to 5-9 and 7-7 against the spread as the team has now covered the number in two of its last three games. The Panthers are playing their best football of the season and are now shooting for a respectable 7-9 record over these next two weeks.
ODDS: According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Panthers are 9.5-point favorites versus the Raiders, while the over/under total is currently sitting at 46 points. Oakland enters the game with a 4-10 record overall and is 1-5 on the road this season, while Carolina is 5-9 overall and 2-5 at home.
TRENDS: The Raiders are 1-6 against the spread in their last seven games overall and 0-5 ATS in their last five games following an ATS win. The Panthers are also 1-5 against the number in their last six home games but 7-2 ATS versus a team with a losing record. The over is also 5-1 in the Panthers’ last six games overall but the under is 5-0 in the Raiders’ last five games overall.
