NFL Week 17 Betting: Public backing Patriots -10 vs. Dolphins on Sunday

Patriots vs. Dolphins Breakdown

Oddsmakers don’t expect the Miami Dolphins to beat the New England Patriots, but can the Dolphins at least keep it interesting?

According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, New England is the clear favorite in this game, as the Patriots are getting odds of -10 points against the Dolphins. The over/under total for the game has been set at 46 points. These two meet today at 1PM ET on CBS.

The Patriots (12-3, 7-6-2 ATS) never seem to need motivation, but with the No. 1 seed in the AFC at stake, New England should come out guns blazing against Miami (5-10, 4-11 ATS). The public betting is solidly behind the Patriots today, as they are getting 75 percent of the wagers as a 10-point road favorite. These two already met back on Oct. 29 with the Patriots getting a 36-7 home victory. The home team has actually won and covered the spread in six straight in this series. New England also hasn’t been great ATS recently, going just 2-4-1 ATS in its last 7 games. However, the Dolphins have been even worse, failing to cover in six straight and eight of their last nine.

The Patriots continue to deal with plenty of injuries, especially to skill positions. Danny Amendola is listed as questionable with a sprained knee while tight end Scott Chandler is also questionable with a knee issue. The Patriots are already without WR Julian Edelman (foot), RB LeGarrette Blount (knee) and defensive end Chandler Jones (toe). Blount is the team’s leading rusher, Edelman has been the leading receiver outside of Rob Gronkowski and Jones has a team-high 12.5 sacks.
