NFL Week 2 Injury Report: Sam Bradford a game-time decision? 9/17/17

Week 2 Injury Report

Which key NFL Players may have to sit out their Week 2 games? Here’s a closer look the top injuries heading into today.

The biggest injury for Sunday comes for the Minnesota Vikings, as quarterback Sam Bradford is listed as a game-time decision for their 1PM ET game with the Steelers in Pittsburgh. Braford had a MRI on his left knee after aggravating it in Monday’s win over the Saints. During the week the knee experienced swelling and has kept Bradford from taking regular reps in practice. Minnesota is promoting its third QB to the active roster from the game and if he is unable to play, Case Keenum will get the start. Bradford had a great opener, throwing for 346 yards and three touchdowns on 27 of 32 passing against the Saints. Minnesota is currently listed as a 6.5-point underdog against the Steelers in Pittsburgh today.

Another big injury is the same from a week ago, as Odell Beckham Jr. is dealing with an ankle injury that has him listed as questionable to play on Monday night against the Detroit Lions. Beckham suffered a high-ankle sprain during the preseason and this injury usually take 6-8 weeks to heal and it has only been four for Beckham, but he stepped up his practice regimen this week. Many New York players said they expect him to suit up against Detroit. Oddsmakers have New York listed as a 3-point favorite over the Lions. The Giants looked lost on offense last week without Beckham. They finished with just 233 yards of offense in a 19-3 loss to the Cowboys in Dallas. If Beckham isn’t able to play, one would assume the odds could shift on Monday night.

Another big injury impacting today has no questions around it, as David Johnson is definitely out for the Arizona Cardinals. The Cardinals lost Johnson indefinitely after he suffered a wrist injury against the Lions last week. The team put him on the IR this week, leaving an opening for him to return later in the season. Johnson is coming off a 2016 season where he rushed for 1,239 yards and had 879 receiving yards while posting a combined 20 touchdowns. With him out, Arizona turns to a combo of Kerwynn Williams and Andre Ellington. Arizona comes into today as a 7-point road favorite against the Indianapolis Colts. The Colts were destroyed in Los Angeles last week by the Rams, so the loss of Johnson isn’t a big factor for this game in the eyes of the oddsmakers.
