NFL Week 2 Predictions: Tampa Bay Bucs vs. Arizona Cardinals 9/18/16

Bucs vs. Cardinals Prediction

Despite losing in their opener last week, will the Cardinals win and cover against the Bucs today at 4:05PM ET?

According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Cardinals are 7-point home favorites versus the Bucs, while the over/under currently sits at 50 points. Neither the side nor the total have moved off the original numbers posted by oddsmakers.

Bet Today’s NFL Games

TAMPA BAY: Jameis Winston lit up the Falcons in the Bucs’ Week 1 victory, completing 23-of-33 pass attempts for 281 yards with four touchdowns and an interception. The second-year quarterback had plenty of help though, as receiver Mike Evans caught 5-of-7 targets for 99 yards and a touchdown and tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins caught one pass for a spectacular 30-yard touchdown grab.

ARIZONA: Larry Fitzgerald had a huge game last Sunday in the Cardinals’ Week 1 loss to the Patriots, hauling in eight catches for 81 yards and two touchdowns on 10 targets. Carson Palmer wasn’t as sharp as he normally is but he still posted 271 passing yards with two touchdowns on 24-of-37 passing. David Johnson also collected 89 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries while catching four-of-six targets for 43 yards.

OUR PREDICTION: The Bucs might be a year ahead of schedule when it comes to competing for a wild card spot in the NFC but they’re in a tough spot today. After beating the Falcons in Atlanta, the Bucs traveled back to Tampa, then out to Arizona. Now they face a Cardinals team that is ticked off after missing a field goal in the waning seconds to lose against the Patriots. Arizona has a much better pass-rush than Atlanta so don’t expect Winston to put up the type of numbers that he did last Sunday today. The Cardinals are 15-6 against the spread in their last 21 games following a failed cover while the Bucs are 2-6 ATS in their last eight games coming off a win.
