NFL Week 3 Predictions: Houston Texans vs. New England Patriots 9/22/16

Texans vs. Patriots Prediction

Will the Texans hand the Patriots their first loss of the season when the two teams meet tonight at 8:25PM ET?

According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the game is currently a pick’em between the Texans and Patriots while the over/under is sitting at 40.5 points. While the total hasn’t moved off the original number posted by oddsmakers, the side has gone from New England +2.5 down to the current line of a pick’em.

Bet Tonight’s Texans vs. Patriots Game

Texans Injury to Know: Brian Cushing

The Texans won’t have linebacker Brian Cushing (out until late October) for tonight’s game after he hurt his knee in Week 1. Tackle Duane Brown also remains out with a quadriceps injury and receiver Braxton Miller is out for tonight due to a hamstring injury.

Patriots Injury to Know: Jimmy Garoppolo

Garoppolo hurt his shoulder in the Patriots’ win over the Dolphins and his doubtful for tonight’s game against the Texans. Rookie quarterback Jacoby Brissett will draw the start for Garoppolo, who was filling in for the suspended Tom Brady. Rob Gronkowski, who missed the first two games of the season, remains questionable due to a hamstring injury.

OUR PREDICTION: The Texans leads the NFL with nine sacks through two weeks and will make Brissett’s life miserable tonight. Bill Belichick and his coaching staff did an incredible job putting together a game plan in Arizona in Week 1 and leading the Garoppolo-led Patriots to a win as a 9-point underdog. But look at the line in the Browns-Dolphins game. With third-string Cody Kessler starting for Cleveland, the line jumped from Dolphins -7 up to -10, yet tonight’s game is a pick’em with Brissett starting. Even though Belichick is the best coach in the league, Brissett is still a rookie third-stringer making his NFL debut.
