NFL Week 4 Betting Recap
Four weeks are now in the books in the NFL and underdog bettors continue to do well at the sports book.
How Favorites & Underdogs did in Week 4
Underdogs went 9-7 in Week 4 and should have gone 10-6 if not for Justin Houston’s touchdown on Monday night. With just four seconds remaining in the Redskins-Chiefs game, Houston returned a fumble for a touchdown that helped kill Washington (+7) bettors opportunity to cash on what should have been a win. Even with that loss, underdogs had another winning week and are now 35-26-1 (57%) on the young season. Away dogs are also 21-16-1 (57%), while home dogs are 14-10 (58%)
How Overs & Unders did in Week 4
Thanks to Houston’s touchdown in the closing seconds on Monday night, overs went 9-7 in Week 4. Had the Washington-Kansas City game ended 23-20 like it was supposed to, the under would have cashed and Week 4 would have seen eight unders and eight overs cash. For the season, overs have hit in 32 games, while the under has cashed 31 times. Unders are also 3-2 in overtime games this season.
Biggest Win For Sports Books
That would be the Bills, who beat the Falcons outright as an 8-point road underdog. That win would have killed any teasers that had Atlanta covering the number on Sunday. Another huge victory for sports books was in New England, where the Patriots lost outright to the Panthers as a 9-point home favorite. Those two games alone made the sports books money in Week 4.

Biggest Wins for Public Bettors
The Steelers were a big public play on Sunday and they cruised to a 26-9 victory in Baltimore, covering easily as a 3.5-point favorite. The other team that saved the public’s bacon was Seattle, which rallied to beat the Colts 46-18 as a double-digit home favorite. Public bettors laying the wood on the Seahawks were no doubt sweating it out when the Colts were up 15-10 at halftime (following a Blair Walsh missed field goal), but Pete Carroll’s team delivered a beat down and an easy cover with 36 points in the second half.
