NFL Week 5 Injury Report

Big-name starting quarterbacks are filling up the injury report and could have a major impact on Sunday’s games. Here’s a look at the latest.

One of the biggest names on the injury report for Sunday is Oakland QB Derek Carr. Carr suffered a transverse process fracture in his back last week and is not expected to suit up for today’s game against the Baltimore Ravens at 4:05PM ET. If Carr is unable to play, E.J. Manuel will have to fill in. Oddsmakers list the Raiders as a 3-point favorite at home against the Ravens. Carr has thrown for 753 yards and seven touchdowns this year. Manuel stepped in last week during the game and threw for 106 yards with an interception.

Another big QB injury is Marcus Mariota’s hamstring. The Tennessee Titans QB suffered a hamstring injury during last week’s lost to Houston and is now a game-time decision for today’s 1PM ET contest at Miami. Oddsmakers are listed the Titans as a 1-point road favorite against the Dolphins. Mariota has thrown for 792 yards with three touchdowns and three interceptions, but also has 116 rushing yards and three scores. His mobility is a great strength for the Titans. If he is unable to play, Matt Cassel will step in. Cassel was 4-of-10 passing for 21 yards and two interceptions when he filled in last week against the Texans.

Another key injury from last week that will impact today was to Seattle running back Chris Carson. Carson suffered a fracture below his left knee during last week’s game and was put on IR. The rookie has been the leading rusher for Seattle, putting up 208 yards on 49 carries. Seattle will now look for a spark in the run game from Eddie Lacy and J.D. McKissic or even C.J. Prosise and Thomas Rawls. Oddsmakers have Seattle as a 1.5-point underdog on the road today against the Rams.
