NFL Week 5 Predictions: Arizona Cardinals vs. San Francisco 49ers 10/6/16

Cardinals vs. 49ers Pick

Will the 49ers cover as a small home underdog tonight when they host the Carson Palmer-less Cardinals at 8:25PM ET?

According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the 49ers are now 3.5-point home underdogs versus the Cardinals after Arizona opened as a 2.5-point favorite. As for the total, the number currently sits at 42 after it was bet down from 42.5.

Bet Tonight’s Cardinals vs. 49ers Game

The Cardinals are now just 1-6 against the spread in their last seven games overall, with three of those failed covers coming this season alone. They’re also 1-5 against the number in their last six Thursday night games, are 1-4 ATS in their last five games versus NFC opponents, and are 1-4 at the betting window in their last five games in October.

After failing to cover last week as a small home underdog versus the Cowboys, the Niners are now 2-6 against the spread in their last eight games overall and are 1-4 at the betting window in their last five games following a straight up loss. That said, they’re 5-0 against the spread in their last five games in Week 5 and are 15-6 ATS in their last 21 games in October.

OUR PREDICTION: The underdog has cashed in four of the last five meetings between these two teams while the Cardinals are just 2-5 against the number in their last seven games in San Francisco. Without Palmer, Drew Stanton gets the nod at quarterback for a Bruce Arians’ offense that is not firing on all cylinders at the moment. Arizona has yet to score a point in the first quarter this season and if San Francisco can get off to a hot start, then the Niners could ride that momentum to an outright win. Regardless, take the points as presented right now, especially with the hook.
