NFL Week 6 Picks: Can Titans cover as a 7.5-point favorite vs. Browns?

Browns vs. Titans Pick

Will the Tennessee Titans be able to establish a win streak and pick up a sizable win over the Cleveland Browns when they meet up this Sunday at 1PM ET?

According to the oddsmakers at BetDSI, the Titans are favored at home in this game, as they are getting odds of -7.5 points against the Browns. The over/under total for the contest is currently listed at 44 points. Cleveland has won five of the last seven against the Titans, going 4-2-1 ATS in those seven games.

Bet on Browns vs. Titans

Tennessee is coming off a 30-17 win at Miami last week to improve to 2-3 overall and 2-3 against the spread. The Titans have yet to win at home, losing to the Raiders and Vikings this season. This game marks the first time this season that they are favored. Tennessee has been in some ugly games due to a solid defense and a poor offense. The defense is holding opponents to just 20.2 points and 336.2 yards per game. However, the offense is averaging just 18.4 points and 366.2 yards per game. DeMarco Murray is starting to really come into his own at Tennessee, as he has now run for 461 yards and three touchdowns this season. Marcus Mariota has thrown for 1,088 yards and seven scores, but also has five interceptions and three fumbles. Mariota could face some heat this week if starting tackle Taylor Lewan can’t play. He is listed as questionable for Sunday with a shoulder injury.

Cleveland is coming off a 33-13 thrashing at the hands of Tom Brady and the Patriots last week. The Browns are now 0-5 on the season and 1-4 against the spread. Defensively, Cleveland is getting carved up for 29.6 points and 411.8 yards per game, including nearly 300 passing yards per contest. On offense, the Browns have been dealing with numerous injuries at quarterback. The team is hopeful Josh McCown can be healthy enough to go this week as he is dealing with a broken collarbone suffered weeks ago. Cleveland has used five different players under center already this season due to injuries. It’s no surprise that Cleveland is averaging just 17.4 points and 365 yards per game. McCown has had the most success this season when healthy. He, combined with running back Isaiah Crowell, could give the team a lift. Crowell has run for 416 yards and three touchdowns this season to help improve the Browns run game this year.

The Titans had a big week last week but it’s hard to expect that kind of performance week-to-week with this team. Their defense should be strong enough to keep Cleveland from going crazy on offense, but McCown genuinely gives the Browns a better offensive attack. His presence should help the run game and also help the defense. The Titans don’t have an offense that should over power the Browns. I think this game remains competitive throughout and comes down to the end.
