NFL Week 6 Spreads & Top Matchups
The NFL Week 6 point spreads are out and with that, here’s a look at the five most interesting matchups for the upcoming week, starting with the Sunday night contest in Foxborough.
275 New England Patriots at 276 New England Patriots, 8:20 p.m. ET Sunday
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetNow.eu, the Patriots are 3.5-point favorites to beat the Chiefs. The total, meanwhile, sits at 59 points. As of this writing, 53% of the public betting tickets are on the underdog Chiefs to cover the point spread.
Kansas City has started off 5-0 both straight up and against the spread, but New England has looked sharp the past two weeks in blowout wins over the Dolphins and Colts. The Patriots are 35-14-2 against the spread in their last 51 home games.
261 Pittsburgh Steelers at 262 Cincinnati Bengals, 1:00 p.m. ET Sunday
The Steelers might be back after scoring 40-plus points last Sunday. Of course, that offensive outburst came against a Falcons team that has been decimated by injuries to its defense. To say Pittsburgh is back might be premature but that could change on Sunday with a win over the Cincinnati Bengals, who have started the year 4-1.
The host Bengals opened as 3-point favorites to win on Sunday but the line dropped to 2.5. The total also dropped, moving from 54.5 down to 53. The Steelers are 16-4-2 against the spread in their last 22 games in Cincinnati and are 18-7-1 against the number in their last 26 games versus the Bengals overall.
257 Carolina Panthers at 258 Washington Redskins, 1:00 p.m. ET, Sunday
Depending on how the Redskins fare in New Orleans on Monday night, this could be a matchup of 3-1 teams in D.C. on Sunday. After opening as a 2.5-point favorite, Washington is now down to -2 for its game against Carolina. The Panthers are a perfect 4-0 against the spread in their last four games versus the Redskins and the underdog has covered the spread in 10 of the last 12 meetings between these two teams. Oh, and the road team is 9-3 ATS in the last 12 games in this series.
103 Philadelphia Eagles at 104 New York Giants, 8:20 p.m. ET, Thursday
These rivals have combined to go 3-7 to start the season but this matchup has intrigue nonetheless. If the Redskins lose to the Saints on Monday night, it will be clear that nobody has any interest in winning the NFC East this season. The Eagles might still be the best team in the division but they’re certainly not playing like it. Even in their first win of the season, a snoozer over the Falcons, they survived on the final play of the game as Atlanta’s offense stalled out at the goal line. That said, Carson Wentz has shown in recent weeks that he might be rounding back to the form that made him a MVP candidate until he was injured last season.
The Eagles opened as 2.5-point road favorites against the Giants, but the line climbed to 3 at most sportsbooks. Philadelphia is 8-3 against the spread in its last 11 trips to East Rutherford and is 13-6-1 ATS in its last 20 games versus the Giants overall. The over is also 6-0 in the last six meetings in New York and 5-0 in the last five meetings overall. (The total sits at 44 points.)
269 Los Angeles Rams at 270 Denver Broncos, 4:05 p.m. ET, Sunday
This one is intriguing because it features the current Super Bowl favorite versus a team that typically plays well at home. The Rams opened as 6.5-point favorites but the line moved up to 7 despite L.A. failing to cover as a 7.5-point road favorite a week ago versus the Seahawks. The Broncos, meanwhile, have lost three straight but they nearly pulled off the upset on Monday night last week versus the Chiefs. In the last five meetings between these two teams, the underdog is 5-0.
