NFL Week 7 Minnesota Vikings vs. Philadelphia Eagles Predictions 10/23/16

Vikings vs. Eagles Prediction

The Vikings are the only undefeated team left in the NFL but will they remain that way after taking on the Eagles today at 1:00PM ET?

According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Vikings are now 3-point road favorites versus the Eagles after opening as a 2-point underdog. That’s quite a swing, suggesting sharp action on Minnesota today. As for the total, the number opened at 40 but has been bet up to 40.5.

On the injury front for the Vikings, coach Mike Zimmer said receiver Stefon Diggs (hamstring) is questionable for today’s game but he was a full participant in practice on Friday. Also, rookie wideout Laquon Tredwell is questionable with a thumb injury and was limited at practice this week. Even if the rookie is active today, it’s highly unlikely that he’ll make much of an impact.

For the Eagles, Jordan Matthews was removed from the Week 7 injury report after he practiced on both Thursday and Friday. His status was never in doubt despite being limited with the knee injury on Wednesday. Also, Eagles coach Doug Pederson confirmed that rookie Halapoulivaati Vaitai will retain the starting right tackle job despite struggling against the Redskins last week. Regular starter Lane Johnson is serving a 10-game suspension for violating the league’s substance abuse policy.

OUR PREDICTION: The Vikings own the best turnover margin in the NFL at +11 and are allowing a touchdown on just 12.3 percent of opponent’s drives, which is the fewest in the league. Carson Wentz and the Eagles offense will struggle to move the ball today, especially without Johnson. They didn’t attempt a single rush outside right tackle last week after running Johnson’s way in the first few weeks. Minnesota is 16-5 against the spread in its last 21 road games and is 37-14 ATS in its last 51 games overall.
