NEW ORLEANS: The Saints finally picked up their first win of the season, beating the Chargers 31-24 as a 3.5-point favorite. Drew Brees threw for 370 yards and four touchdowns in the victory, while Marques Colston exploded for 131 yards and three touchdowns on nine receptions. Devery Henderson also caught eight passes for 123 yards and one touchdown, while Jimmy Graham was held to just one catch for 4 yards before leaving the game with an ankle injury. The victory ran the Saints’ record to 1-4 and 2-3 against the spread, while the over hit for the fourth time in five games.
TAMPA BAY: The Buccaneers picked up their second win of the year in a 38-10 victory over the hapless Chiefs. Josh Freeman completed 15-of-26 passes for 328 yards and three touchdowns, while Mike Williams caught four passes for 113 yards and a touchdown. The Bucs are now 2-3 overall and 4-1 against the spread, with their only non-cover coming in Week 4 in a 24-22 loss to the Redskins in Tampa Bay. Freeman leads the team with 1,118 yards while Doug Martin has rushed for 323 yards and Vincent Jackson has a team-high four touchdowns.
ODDS: According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Saints are 2.5-point favorites over the Bucs, while the over/under total is currently sitting at 49.5 points. New Orleans is 1-4 overall and 0-2 on the road, while Tampa Bay is 2-3 overall and 2-1 at home.
TRENDS: The under is 4-0 in the last four meetings between these two teams in Tampa Bay and 7-0 in the last seven meetings between the Saints and Bucs overall. The road team, meanwhile, is 13-5 against the spread in the last 18 meetings between these two teams.
