Saints vs. Packers Prediction
Can the Packers upset the red-hot Saints this afternoon without Aaron Rodgers? Kickoff is set for 1:00PM ET.
Who Oddsmakers Like: New Orleans. According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Saints are now 3.5-point road favorites versus the Packers, who opened as 4.5-point home underdogs. As for the total, the number hit the board at 47.5 and that’s where it currently sits at the majority of online sports books.
Who the Public Likes: New Orleans. It’s no surprise that public bettors are fading the Packers without Rodgers. As of this writing, 62% of public bettors are laying the points with the Saints.
Who the Trends Like: The favorite. The favorite is 5-1 against the spread in the last six meetings between these two teams and the Saints have covered in four of their last five games versus the Packers overall. That said, the home team is 5-2 against the spread in the last seven meetings between these two teams.
Who We Like: Green Bay. The Packers would have been around a 6.5-point favorite had Rodgers started this game. But without him, they’re a home underdog against a Saints team that suddenly has a defense. Brett Hundley will be making his professional starting debut and even though he looked shaky last week when Rodgers went down, don’t completely write him off. Deshaun Watson didn’t play well in Week 1 when he came off the bench for the ineffective Tom Savage. He received first-team reps in practice the following week and has played well ever since. While I don’t expect Hundley to look anything remotely close to Rodgers, I do think they’ll play better today against the Saints and there’s a ton of value in fading the public with a home underdog.
