Colts vs. Titans Prediction
Will the Tennessee Titans defend their home turf when they host division rival, the Indianapolis Colts, today at 1PM ET?
According to the oddsmakers at BetDSI, the Titans find themselves as a home favorite today, as they are getting odds of -3 points against the Colts. The over/under total is currently listed at 47.5 points. The Colts have won nine straight over the Titans, going 8-1 against the spread in those nine games.
The Colts are coming off a 26-23 OT loss to the Texans in Houston last week to fall to 2-4 on the season. Indy is now 2-3-1 against the spread after pushing as a 3-point dog last week. Indy is averaging 26.7 points and 388.7 yards per game on offense this season, including 286.8 passing yards per game. Andrew Luck has thrown for 1,721 yards and 11 touchdowns in 2016 with just four interceptions, but the Colts are struggling to protect him. He has been sacked 23 times and the Indy run game has just 611 yards in six games. On defense, the Colts are giving up 29 points and 418.5 yards per game this season, including 300.8 passing yards per contest. Their lack of a pass rush, providing just eight sacks, has kept them from being able to get key stops during the year.
The Titans are coming off a 28-26 win over the Browns to improve to 3-3 on the season. Tennessee is now 2-4 against the spread on the season and 0-3 ATS at home in 2016. The Titans average just 20 points per game on offense and allow only 21.2 points per game on defense. The Tennessee offense is led by Marcus Mariota, who has put up 1,372 passing yards with 10 touchdowns, but also has six interceptions. He also has run for 196 yards and a score. Mariota has a solid partner in the backfield in DeMarco Murray, who ranks fifth in the NFL right now with 526 rushing yards. Defensively, the Titans have a pass rush that has produced 18 sacks this season. Brian Orakpo is third in the NFL right now with seven sacks in 2016. The unit also has six interceptions, which ranks sixth in the league.

There was a time that the Colts found ways to win games, especially division contests. However, that time has passed. Indy has a defense that doesn’t get key stops and their offense, while it moves the ball, is too one dimensional. Lucks has been having problems holding on to the ball too long and that cost the Colts in last week’s loss. It will likely be a problem again today against this Tennessee front and lead to turnovers that set the Titans up with a short field. There isn’t a lot to like about the Titans on offense, but I think their defense will carry them to a win today.
