Seahawks vs. Cardinals Prediction

Which team will cover tonight on Sunday Night Football when the Cardinals host the Seahawks at 8:30PM ET?

According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Cardinals are now 1-point home favorites versus the Seahawks after opening as a 2-point favorite when the lines were first released. As for the total, the number opened at 43.5 but has been bet up to 44.

On the injury front for the Seahawks, safety Kam Chancellor (groin) isn’t expected to play in Week 7. That means Kelcie McCray will continue to start opposite free safety Earl Thomas in the Seahawks’ defensive backfield. Jimmy Graham (knee, hip) also didn’t practice on Thursday but Pete Carroll confirmed that his tight end will play tonight. Michael Bennett is also practicing in full this week after suffering an injury last Sunday in the team’s win over the Falcons.

The Cardinals are also banged up ahead of tonight’s game, although ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that quarterback Carson Palmer (hamstring) will play tonight. Palmer exited early the team’s victory over the Jets on Monday night, although it was a blowout so the Cardinals were able to be cautious with their signal-caller. Receiver John Brown is also doubtful with a hamstring injury and Jaron Brown is questionable with a knee ailment.

OUR PREDICTION: With Russell Wilson showing no ill-effects from the ankle and knee injuries suffered earlier in the year, I like the Seahawks to win outright tonight. Over Seattle’s last 12 games, Wilson has thrown 29 touchdown passes and just two interceptions, which is a ratio of 14.5. According to ESPN.com, that’s twice as good as the next-closest quarterbacks during that stretch. The Seahawks eventually need to re-discover their running game but it’s not as if Christine Michael has been completely ineffective. Furthermore, the Cardinals have become one-dimensional on offense, relying on David Johnson to move the chains consistently. That’s going to be difficult to do tonight against the league’s third-ranked run defense.
