Broncos vs. 49ers Odds
The San Francisco 49ers and the Denver Broncos play overseas in Week 8 as the two meet at Wembley Stadium in London, England.
The Broncos are 2-5 on the season while the 49ers are 1-6. The 49ers have won three of the last five meetings with the Broncos.
Oddsmakers from online sportsbook Sportsbook.com have made San Francisco a 1-point favorite in this neutral-site game. The over/under has been set at 41.5.
The opening odds has the 49ers favored by 1, where the line currently is, but the spread had reached 2 during the week. The over/under opened at 42 before dropping a hook to get to 41.5.
Denver has lost three straight after starting 2-2 on the season. The Broncos were decimated by Oakland last weekend in a 59-14 loss. The Broncos gave up over 500 yards of offense to the Raiders while amassing just 240 yards of their own and turning the ball over three times. Kyle Orton has played well this season, throwing for 2,140 yards and 11 touchdowns while Brandon Lloyd has 709 receiving yards with three touchdowns. D.J. Williams is leading the defense with 63 tackles and four sacks on the season.
The 49ers are coming off a 23-20 loss to Carolina last weekend. It was the fourth loss for the 49ers that was decided by single digits. The 49ers have been inconsistent all year, led by quarterback Alex Smith, who has thrown for 1,554 yards but has nine touchdowns and nine interceptions. Smith got hurt in last week’s loss and he won’t play on Sunday, forcing Troy Smith to start. Smith hasn’t thrown a pass this season. Frank Gore will be relied heavily upon against the Broncos. He has rushed for 573 yards and one touchdown on the season. Patrick Willis leads the San Francisco defense with 58 tackles and one sack.
The Broncos are 1-4 ATS in their last five games as an underdog, while the 49ers are 0-5 ATS in their last five games as a favorite. Something has to give.
Along with Smith sitting out, starting tackle Joe Staley and defensive back Taylor Mays are both questionable with shoulder injuries. Denver cornerback Andrew Goodman is doubtful with a thigh injury while receivers Demaryius Thomas and Eddie Royal are both probable with respective injuries.
Over 10,900 public bets have been placed on this game with Denver getting 63% of the wagers at +1 against the 49ers.
