NFL Week 9 Injury Report
This week saw a major injury take place to shake up the NFL landscape. Here is a closer look at the Injury Report for today’s games.
The big injury to take place this week actually came on Thursday in a practice. Deshaun Watson suffered a season-ending knee injury crippling the Houston Texans’ season. Houston is hosting the Indianapolis Colts today at 1PM ET The oddsmakers have listed the Texans as a 6.5-point favorite today despite not having Watson. Watson has been having a tremendous rookie season, throwing for 1,699 yards and 19 touchdowns while also rushing for 269 yards and another score. Tom Savage will be taking over in his place, but Savage was pulled in the season opener for Watson after being unproductive.
Another key player that’s been in the in-our-out news is Ezekiel Elliott. While Elliott isn’t dealing with an injury, he was expected to start serving his 6-game suspension today when his ban was upheld in court mid-week. However, another appeal allowed Elliott to get access to play today when the Dallas Cowboys host the Kansas City Chiefs at 4:25PM ET. Oddsmakers have the Cowboys as a 2.5-point favorite for this game today. Having Elliott certainly helps. He has rushed for 690 yards and six touchdowns this season to lead the offense. He also has 19 catches for 210 yards and two scores.
Another team that is dealing with a new starting quarterback today will be the Arizona Cardinals, who lost Carson Palmer to a broken arm in their last game two weeks ago. With Palmer out, Drew Stanton will get the start when the Cardinals travel to face the San Francisco 49ers at 4:05PM ET. Oddsmakers still have the Cardinals as a road favorite, giving them odds of -2.5 points today. Palmers has thrown for 1,978 yards and nine touchdowns this season. Stanton was 5 of 14 passing in his limited time two weeks ago. He threw for 66 yards with an interception. Stanton has 14 touchdowns and 20 interceptions over his career.
