NFL Week 9 Picks: Will the Rams be able to slow Cam Newton, Panthers?

Panthers vs. Rams Pick

Is the under a good bet to cash on Sunday when the Panthers visit the Rams at 4:05PM ET?

According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Rams are 3-point home underdogs versus the Panthers this weekend after opening as a 2.5-point dog. As for the total, the number hit the board at 45.5 but has been bet down to 44.5.

PANTHERS KEY TRENDS: The Panthers have been a horrible bet on the road of late, failing to cover in their last seven road games dating back to last season. They’re also 1-4 against the number in their last five games versus NFC opponents and have covered the spread just once in their last five games overall.

RAMS KEY TRENDS: The Rams have been a good play under Jeff Fisher and previous head coaches coming out of their bye week, covering in seven of their last nine games following an off week. That said, they’re just 2-6-1 against the spread in their last nine games following a loss and for one reason or another, are just 1-7 at the betting window in their last eight games played in Week 9.

OUR PREDICTION: Teams that have had success versus the Panthers this season have done so through the air but the Rams don’t beat many teams with their passing game. They have to feed Todd Gurley because he’s one of the few weapons they have, but that plans into the Panthers’ strengths on defense (i.e. their front seven).  The under is 14-5 in the Rams’ last 19 games overall and is 6-2 in their last eight games versus NFC opponents. Look for Sunday to be relatively low-scoring in Los Angeles.

NFL WEEK 9 PREDICTION: PANTHERS/RAMS UNDER 44.5
