NFL Week 9 Predictions: Atlanta Falcons vs. Tampa Bay Bucs 11/3/16

Falcons vs. Bucs Prediction

Who covers tonight when the Falcons visit the Bucs at 8:25PM ET in a clash of NFC South rivals on Thursday Night Football?

According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Falcons are now a 4-point road favorite versus the Bucs after opening as a 3-point favorite earlier in the week. As for the total, the number opened at 51.5 and has been bet down to 50.5.

Bet Tonight’s Falcons vs. Bucs Game

The Falcons are already 3-1 on the road this season but they’ve had issues with the Bucs. They’re just 4-4 against their division rivals from Tampa since 2008 and 0-3 since Jameis Winston was drafted by the Bucs with the first overall pick in 2015. The Falcons are also just 1-3 all-time on Thursday night when playing on the road.

After going 3-9 in their previous two seasons, the Bucs are 2-0 this year against divisional opponents, including 1-0 against the Falcons. They’ve lost nine of their last 11 divisional home games, but both wins came against Atlanta. The Bucs have also struggled on Thursday night, losing three straight when playing on this day, including last year in the Rams’ final home game in St. Louis.

OUR PREDICTION: As previously mentioned, Winston is 3-0 in his career against the Falcons, posting a an 80-plus Total QBR in each game according to ESPN.com’s Stats and Info. The Falcons, for all their success, have also allowed 30 points in five different games this season, which is tied for most in the NFL. Now they have to go on the road, to face a team they’ve struggled against, and win on a short week. They might win their sixth game of the year (they certainly are the better team), but there’s still a ton of value in taking the Bucs with the points.
