NFL Week 9 Predictions: Denver Broncos vs. Oakland Raiders 11/6/16

Broncos vs. Raiders Prediction

Will the Broncos pull off a small upset tonight when they visit the Raiders for Sunday Night Football at 8:30PM ET?

According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Broncos are now 1-point road underdogs versus the Raiders after the game opened at Oakland -2.5 and was once bet down to a pick’em. As for the total, the number hit the board at 44.5 but has been bet down to 43.5 at the majority of online and Vegas sports books.

Bet Today’s NFL Games

The Broncos have won five straight road games against the Raiders by an average margin of 15.4 points per game according to ESPN.com. They have not lost consective road games since 2012 and are 6-0 when scoring 20 points this season (and 0-2 when scoring fewer than 20). Denver has also scored 80 points off turnovers this season, 25 more than any other team in the NFL.

The Raiders have lost five of their last seven games at home, including four losses by 10-plus points. They’re 5-1 in their games decided by eight points or fewer this season, including last week when they beat the Buccaneers in overtime. Speaking of that game last Sunday in Tampa, Derek Carr threw four touchdown passes and is looking to become the first quarterback in Raiders history to have three games with four touchdown passes in a single season.

OUR PREDICTION: The Raiders were on the East Coast for two straight weeks after playing the Titans and then traveling down to Tampa. They also played essentially an extra quarter last weekend in their overtime victory over the Bucs, who wore down in the second half on Thursday night in their loss to the Falcons. That’s a lot of quarters and a lot of travel for a team that now comes back home, a place where they haven’t won much of late. The Broncos will be chomping at the bit to shut down Carr and the Raiders’ explosive offense. Even though the Broncos are a heavy public play tonight, I’m not shying away from what should be one of the best plays on the Week 9 board.
