NFL Week 9 Predictions: Philadelphia Eagles vs. New York Giants 11/6/16

Eagles vs. Giants Prediction

NFC East rivals the Eagles and Giants meet today at 1:00PM ET in East Rutherford. Will the G-Men cover?

According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Giants are 3-point home favorites versus the Eagles after the line danced between 2.5 and 3 throughout the week. The total, meanwhile, opened at 44 before being bet down to 43, which is where it currently sits at the majority of online and Vegas sports books.

Bet Today’s NFL Games

The Eagles have been impressive at MetLife Stadium, winning five of the six games they’ve played their all-time (and actually, they’re 6-1 at MetLife Stadium after beating the Jets there in 2015). Philadelphia also has an impressive record versus New York, putting together a 13-4 playoff record versus the Giants since 2008 while going just 15-20 versus the rest of the division during that span. They’re 0-2 in division games this season but haven’t started 0-3 against the division since 2008.

A win today and the Giants will match their longest win streak over the last three seasons after winning three consecutive games three previous times since 2014. The Giants are 2-1 at home this season after going 3-5 at home in each of their last two seasons. That said, the G-Men have lost 10 straight games in Week 9 or later against teams that entered with a winning record.

OUR PREDICTION: This is a coin flip on paper but there are a few jarring stats that have me leaning towards the home favorite in this one. For starters, over the last two games, Carson Wentz is 0-3 with an interception on passes 20-plus yards downfield. He completed 41-percent of those throws in his first six games of the season. The Eagles simply aren’t taking enough shots downfield and the few that they have taken, Wentz has missed. Also, according to ESPN.com, over the last three weeks the Eagles have given up 51 offensive plays of 10 yards-or-more. Only the Bengals have given up more in that span (52). If Philly can’t lean on its defense to win today then the Eagles are in trouble. The Giants are heating up and are well-rested after having a bye last week. I’ll roll the dice on them.
