Minnesota is coming off a 20-17 win at Chicago on Monday. The Vikings are now 3-2 on the season and 2-3 against the spread. Their two covers have both come at home. Minnesota is averaging 18.6 points and 327.4 yards allowed per game on defense while the offense is 19.8 points and 373.6 yards per game. Injuries have plagued the Minnesota offense this season, as Sam Bradford tried to play on Monday but re-aggravated his knee injury and won’t play today. Case Keenum has thrown for 895 yards and four touchdowns in his place. Jerick McKinnon broke out in the last game to take over the lead back role for the injured Dalvin Cook, who is out for the season with a knee injury.. McKinnon has 121 yards on 26 carries. Stefon Diggs has 23 catches for 395 yards and four touchdowns at receiver, but he is out today with a groin injury.
Green Bay is coming off a big 35-31 win at Dallas last week to improve to 4-1 on the season. The Packers are 3-2 against the spread, covering in their last two games. Green Bay is allowing just 22.4 points and 339.6 yards per game on defense while the offense is putting up 27.4 points and 365 yards per contest. Aaron Rodgers has thrown for 1,367 yards and 13 touchdowns to lead the offense while Davante Adams has 23 receptions for 285 yards and four scores. Aaron Jones has become the leading rusher with 174 yards on 32 carries. He is filling in for Ty Montgomery, who has missed play recently with a rib injury. Montgomery could return today. The Packers are hoping they can heal up their offensive line as tackle David Bakhtiari has missed four games with a hamstring injury while tackle Bryan Bulaga is battling an ankle injury. Both are listed as questionable today.
Injuries are an issue for both offenses, but when it comes down to it, you have to trust Aaron Rodgers over Case Keenum. While the Vikings may have the better defense, Rodgers is still the best playmaker on the field. I trust he will find a way to produce some key scoring drives while the Packers defense should be able to limit what Minnesota’s backups are able to do with the ball.
