NFL Wild Card Playoffs: Point spread drops in Steelers-Bengals matchup

Sharps on Bengals to cover Saturday night?

Despite public bettors backing the Steelers, there’s been reverse line movement in Pittsburgh’s Wild Card matchup with the Bengals on Saturday night.

At the majority of online sports books, the Steelers opened as a 2.5-point road favorite for their playoff game tonight at 8:15PM ET with the Bengals. On Tuesday the line was bet up to the key number of 3 at some books and then by Wednesday, nearly every offshore site had Pittsburgh as a 3-point favorite.

But late Saturday morning the line dropped from a field goal all the way down to Cincinnati +1.5. According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the line is back up but only to Steelers -2. (As for the total, it opened at 46.5 and has been bet down to 44.5.)

Our NFL public betting information shows that 60% of the action is on Pittsburgh to cover the 2-point spread. Given the reverse line movement, sharp bettors likely hit the Bengals +3 and then kept betting them down because they either like Cincinnati as a home dog, or wanted Pittsburgh at a discounted price (and thus will start to bet the Steelers hard now that they’re favored by less than a field goal again).

Unless the line goes back up to 2.5 or 3, there’s reason to believe that the wiseguys are on the Bengals tonight.
