NFL Wild Card Playoffs: Public Bettors Split on Falcons vs. Rams 1/6/18

Public Bettors Split on Falcons-Rams

With several hours yet before kickoff of the Wild Card matchup between the Falcons and Rams, public bettors are split on which team will cover.

According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Rams are now 5.5-point home favorites to beat the Falcons, who opened as a 4.5-point road underdog earlier in the week. The total, meanwhile, hit the board at 49.5 before dropping to 48.

Bet NFL Wild Card Weekend Games

As of Saturday morning, only 51% of betting tickets are on the Falcons to cover the spread. That said, public bettors sided with the Rams for most of the week so public bettors are conflicted on which team will cover tonight. Meanwhile, 57% of the money is on Atlanta.

The favorite is 13-3 against the spread in the last 16 meetings between these two teams but the Falcons have covered in five of their last seven games against the Rams. The over, meanwhile, is 16-5 in the last 21 meetings between these two teams and 5-2 in the last seven meetings when the Rams are the host team.

The Falcons are also 13-6 against the spread in their last 19 conference games but have failed to cover the number in seven of their last nine playoff games. They’re also 1-5 against the spread in their last six road games, are winless at 0-4 against the number in their last four playoff road games, and are 1-6-1 at the betting window in their last eight games after allowing less than 250 total yards in their previous contest.

On the other side, the Rams are just 6-13-1 against the spread in their last 20 conference games, are 4-10-1 against the number in their last 15 home games, and have failed to cover in four of their last five playoff games, although their last postseason game was in 2004 so that trend is useless. L.A. is also 4-1 against the number in its last five games coming off a loss.
