2012-13 Raiders Season Odds
OAKLAND, CA (The Spread) – The Oakland Raiders narrowly missed the playoffs in 2011 – can they make a postseason run in 2012?
Oddsmakers have installed the Raiders as 65/1 long shots to win the 2013 Super Bowl and 28/1 to win the 2013 AFC Championship. They’re also +480 on the money line to win the AFC West Division and have an over/under total of 7 for total number of wins during the 2012 NFL regular season.
The Raiders weren’t very active in free agency. They lost center Samson Satele to the Colts, quarterback Jason Campbell to the Bears, and running back Michael Bush to the Bears, who was perhaps Oakland’s biggest loss in free agency.
The Raiders didn’t have picks in either the first or second rounds of April’s draft. Their first pick came in the third round when they took Utah offensive tackle Tony Bergstrom and in the fourth, they took San Diego State outside linebacker Miles Burris. They had two selections in the fifth round, with one going to Penn State defensive end Jack Crawford and the other going to Arizona wide receiver Juron Criner.
Oakland has enough talent on paper to compete in a winnable division but it’s doubtful that the Raiders will make a deep postseason run. Running back Darren McFadden has to stay healthy for this team to have a shot and the defense will have to overachieve. This looks like a 7-9 or 8-8 team on paper.
