Patriots giving 7 to Ravens
FOXBOROUGH, MA (The Spread) – The New England Patriots and Baltimore Ravens get the NFL Divisional Playoffs started today at 4:35PM ET. Here is a look at the odds for this contest.
The Patriots are the top seed in the AFC playoffs and they won the AFC East standings. New England went 12-4 on the season but lost the season finale to Buffalo, 17-9, when the Pats rested a number of starters. New England was 9-7 against the spread this season and the Patriots failed to cover in their last two games while hitting the under in five of their last six.
The Ravens are coming off a 30-17 win at Pittsburgh last weekend in the Wild Card Playoffs. Baltimore has now won two straight and four of its last five coming into this game. The Ravens were able to win last week with defense, forcing Pittsburgh into three turnovers and holding the Steelers to 68 rushing yards. Baltimore is 8-8-1 against the spread on the season, but the Ravens are just 1-3 ATS in their last four games and they have pushed or hit the under in five straight.
According to oddsmakers from Bovada.lv, New England is the favorite at home, as the Patriots are getting odds of -7 points against the Ravens. The over/under total for this game has been set at 47.5 points (View Matchup).
These two didn’t meet this season, but the Ravens have won two of their last three overall meetings with the Pats and two of their last three playoff meetings with New England. The key in this game will likely be what Baltimore’s defense can do to limit Tom Brady. The Ravens are allowing 252.8 passing yards per game this season, which ranks 23rd in the NFL. Brady has thrown for 4,109 yards and 33 touchdowns, giving New England the ninth-ranked passing offense. The Pats only rush for 107.9 yards per game, so if Brady can’t lead the NE offense, the Ravens should have success.
