Pack’s SB odds improve after Hail Mary win
The Packers improved their Super Bowl odds and buried any remaining playoff hopes for the Lions with one “Hail Mary” pass on Thursday night.
Given a second chance on a questionable facemask penalty at the end of the game, Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers heaved a “Hail Mary” pass to the end zone on Thursday night in Detroit. The pass traveled 61 yards into the waiting hands of tight end Richard Rodgers, who somehow found space in Detroit’s defense to make a miracles catch. The Packers wound up winning the game, 27-23.
Heading into Week 13, the Packers were 12/1 to win the 2016 Super Bowl. With their victory last night, their odds improved to 10/1 according to oddsmakers from online sports book Mybookie.ag. The Patriots remain Super Bowl favorites at 14/5, while the Panthers are 11/2, the Cardinals are 6/1 and the Broncos are 8/1.
Green Bay also ruined and helped plenty of betting tickets on Sunday night. Had Rodgers not caught the “Hail Mary,” the Packers would have failed to cover as a 2.5-point road favorite. Instead, the facemask penalty and touchdown reception cost Detroit backers at the betting window. The Lions were up by three scores at one point.
