Packers vs. Redskins Free Pick
FedEx Field in Hyattsville, Maryland will be the sight of a non-divisional matchup between the Redskins and Packers this Sunday. Read on to check out our prediction of this Week 5 matchup.
Before we make our prediction, let’s check out the current point spread.
Oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL.com have made the Redskins 2.5-point underdogs against the Packers in Week 5, while the over/under total is currently 45 points.
The Packers enter this game with a 3-1 record, although they’re playing .500 ball against the spread at 2-2. On the road this year, Green Bay is 1-1 and has an identical ATS road record of 1-1, as well.
After beating the Eagles last Sunday in Philadelphia, the Redskins improved their record to 2-2 on the year. They’re also 2-2 against the spread and 1-1 at home this year with a 1-1 home ATS record. They’re averaging 18.2 points per game and allowing 19.8 PPG, while the Packers have averaged 26.5 PPG offensively and have allowed 18.2 PPG defensively.
The Prediction:
The Packers are a banged up football team right now, especially on the defensive side of the ball. They lost middle linebacker Nick Barnett to a wrist injury earlier in the week and he may miss the rest of the season. Safety Morgan Burnett is already set to miss the entire season with a torn knee and rookie tackle Bryan Bulaga will fill in for the injured Mark Tauscher on Green Bay’s offensive line.
My prediction is that the Packers will struggle on the road this week, just as they have in each of their last two games. They’re 1-4 against the spread in their last five games in Week 5 and 1-4 ATS in their last five games as a favorite of 0.5-3.0 points.
Meanwhile, the Redskins are 5-1-3 against the number in their last nine games on grass and 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games in Week 5. They beat the Cowboys at home in Week 1 and nearly pulled off the upset against the Texans in Week 2, so they play well at FedEx Field. My prediction is that they win this game outright.
