New England Patriots DFS Spin
Patriots coach Bill Belichick said that RBs Damien Harris and Rhamondre Stevenson could be used on “all three downs” and the team has to “plan accordingly for that.” This is a change from the normal Patriots philosophy of employing a third-down back, but with James White retired, Brandon Bolden in Vegas, and the younger pass-catching backs not proving ready, it’s not a major surprise to see New England go with their strengths. There’s been a lot of hype on Rhamondre Stevenson this offseason, but it’s noteworthy that the team is also exploring using Harris on all three downs. This could still be a full-blown committee in-season.
Las Vegas Raiders DFS Spin
Raiders coach Josh McDaniels doesn’t “feel comfortable making a prediction” on Darren Waller’s (hamstring) status for Week 1 against the Chargers. Waller briefly made his return to the practice field last week but has since found himself back on the sidelines with his pulled hammy. It sure sounds like he could miss regular-season action. Waller is missing key reps in McDaniels’ new offense and with Derek Carr, as he continues to show a strong rapport with Davante Adams and Hunter Renfrow. Waller is looking like a risky, injury-prone early-round TE1 pick.

Patriots at Raiders Prediction:
Hey, might as well stay with the hot hand, right? The Raiders are unbeaten in preseason play at 3-0, playing one more game than most because of their Hall of Fame matchup against the Jaguars, and using this time to establish a new culture under Josh McDaniels. The Patriots, meanwhile, are 1-1 but have potential issues brewing on offense because of the departure of McDaniels. With New England having a ton of things to iron out before its regular season debut, I’m going to back the home team tonight in Vegas.
