FOXBOROUGH, MA (The Spread) – The New England Patriots look to lock up another AFC East championship on Sunday when they host the Miami Dolphins at 1PM ET on CBS.

The Patriots are coming off a 23-14 win at San Diego last week to improve to 10-3 on the season. They have a three-game lead over the Dolphins in the division and have won eight of their last nine games. The Patriots are also 8-5 against the spread this season and have covered in five of their last six games while hitting the under in three straight.

Miami is coming off a 28-13 loss to the Ravens at home last week. The Dolphins have now lost three of their last five games to fall to 7-6 on the season. Miami is now 7-6 against the spread and they have failed to cover in their last two games. Miami has been an underdog four times in their last 10 games, going 2-2 against the spread in those four games.

Oddsmakers like the Patriots to lock up the East on Sunday, as oddsmakers from BetDSI have given New England odds of -7.5 points against the Dolphins. The over/under total has been set at 48.5 points (View Matchup). The Dolphins have won the last two against the Patriots, including a 33-20 win on Sept. 7 to open this season. The home team has won and covered the spread in four straight in this series.

The key matchup in this game will be the Miami passing defense against Tom Brady and the New England pass attack. The Dolphins held Brady to 29 of 56 passing for 249 yards in the season-opening win. Miami also has the third-best passing defense in the NFL, allowing just 203.2 yards per game. Brady has thrown for 3,560 yards and 30 touchdowns this season. He comes into Sunday’s game having thrown for over 300 yards in four of his last six games. In all three New England loses this season, Brady has been held under 250 passing yards.
