New England Patriots DFS Spin
Mac Jones completed 23-of-36 passed for 307 yards, two touchdowns and zero interceptions in the Patriots’ 54-13, Week 7 win over the Jets, adding three rushes for 19 yards. Jones efficiently moved the ball, and kept the Patriots offense on track. His passing line also does not include a 25 yard TD pass to Nelson Agholor, which was thrown by Kendrick Bourne on a trick play. Jones’ last drive came with over nine minutes left in the game, and Brian Hoyer finished out the game. Jones will likely have limited volume in Week 8 with the Patriots taking on the Chargers’ run-funnel defense.
Los Angeles Chargers DFS Spin
Justin Herbert completed 23-of-39 passes for 195 yards, one touchdown and an interception in the Chargers’ 34-6, Week 6 loss to the Ravens. Herbert crashed back down to earth after last Sunday’s scintillating affair, posing a season low for yardage even as the Chargers spent the entire afternoon playing from behind. The story of the day was the Chargers’ reversal of fortune on fourth down, where they went 1-for-4. They turned it over on downs from their own 39 and 19-yard line, with the latter failure coming in the third quarter and essentially ending the game. They were already losing 24-6, so it was a sensible gamble. It just didn’t work. Herbert has had some accuracy issues creep in of late, but nothing of a systematic variety. Just tough games in a tough league. Mike Williams’ knee issue surely did not help this afternoon. Still looking like an MVP contender on the whole, Herbert gets the Chargers’ bye before a tough Week 8 date with a Patriots defense that eradicated the Bolts in a 45-0 2020 victory. That game, of course, was with Anthony Lynn instead of Brandon Staley on the sideline.
NFL Week 8 Betting Prediction
The Patriots are a perfect 6-0 against the spread in their last six games versus the Chargers, are 4-1 against the number in their last five games in L.A. and are 44-20-2 at the betting window in their last 66 games played in October. On the other side, the Chargers are just 3-11 against the spread in their last 14 home games versus a team with a losing road record and are 4-9-1 against the number in their last 14 games against a team with a losing record.
